Busy as a B

This was a very long week for me. First week in the new house, and a busy week at work left me no time at all to get the new place in order. I was out running errands Thursday evening after work until about 8pm.

I spent about a weeks pay at Bed, Bath & Beyond (my new favorite store). I purchased a down alternative comforter, a duvet cover, some pillows, wall decor and pictures and the price tag was hefty. However the beauty sleep was priceless.

I really enjoyed the down "alternative" comforter, so COMFY! and the Black Leopard matches my room decor very well. I am going with a "Old School Hollywood" type decor. I have a lot of Marilyn Monroe framed pictures as well as James Dean so I think this goes pretty nice.

Being so busy my eats have not been the best lately. Lots of sandwiches and soups.
Grilled Ezekiel bread and Daiya Cheese (Vegan Grilled Cheese) Pretty Tasty!!!!

I wish more of my nights were filled with rest and relaxation, like Kujo enjoying our new fireplace.

There was a crackle and a pop and he jumped up and started barking... it was pretty funny!

The dogs are enjoying the big yard and I play frisbee with them daily. Here is Kaiya anxiously waiting me to throw the frisbee.
Kujo acts like he wants to run and catch is but is rather slow to actually do anything, while Kaiya leaves him in the dust.

I hope everyone had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

I had a great weekend with a couple of my besties enjoying some girl time. We dressed up for Halloween and it was a BLAST!!! I will be posting about that soon.

Sandwiches & Sushi

I have my kitchen put together now, just putting decor up now is on my list. Things are still a little hectic and I haven't really cooked a real meal. Sandwiches, soups and store bought sushi have been on the menu.

My new kitchen with the old appliances - working on getting new ones very soon!

Tofurkey, spinach, tomato, mustard and veganaise on ezekiel bread

An insane amount of homemade hummus that was scraped off, this hummus and veggie sandwich from Sprizzo Cafe. Very good just way TOO much hummus for that 1/2 sandwich.

Store bought veggie sushi, looked good tasted okay. Nothing special, really.

I am loving the new house just need to get everything situated, I have been working long hours at my office and trying to buy new things for the house. I didn't have two bathrooms in the old house so lots of accessories to buy... I just want to relax... haha

MAC Makeup Review

I indulged a little last night and purchased some new make up. I have heard over and over about how wonderful MAC cosmetics are and how I should try them.

I normally wear Bare Minerals make up and love it. Sometimes I need a little more coverage under my eyes and I thought why not try MAC today. There must be something good about it that I don't know!
I tried in in the store and really like the coverage. I have a lot of freckles and I don't necessarily like to hide them but with this minerlized foundation a little more coverage is possible.

Do you use Mac makeup? What is your favorite make up to use?

I went to a mexian resturaunt last week before the big move and also indulged in some veggie fajitas. My kitchen was completely packed up so dining out was very necessary.

Habanero's Mexican Kitchen was really good especially all the different table side guacamole options.
Veggie Faijitas with garbanza beans and spinach, yum!

The house is coming along nicely, work has been so crazy busy that I haven't been able to be home much and get what I want done. Kitchen is done, just need to hang my decor. I have a lot of new things that I want to buy like bedding, an ottoman, a area rug, coffee tables, etc etc etc!!

I will be posting some pictures soon - I just need to get rid of all the boxes in the house first! :)

Tomorrow is the BIG Day

It is the day I get the keys to my new home! Moving day isn't until Saturday. My house is in complete shambles and there are boxes everywhere. Moving is not fun and I can't wait to have renters in my old place and be completely setttled into the new place. Just in time for winter! Winter in Wisconsin is not always pretty and can really sneak up on you! I am very anxious for things to go smoothly and even though this isn't my first home purchase it is definately a bigger one and with tomorrow being the big day - my stomach is feeling a bit quesy.....

Enough about that... on to lunch, yesteday.

I went to a newer establishment in Waukesha called The Clarke Hotel. They have a small dining area called the Black Trumpet. Lunch was great and they had a few vegetarian options! I had an avacado sandwich with goat cheese.

This was really yummy and instead of french fries you can get greens, which were actually greens and not just iceberg lettuce with dressing.

Pretty good deal. I am pretty sure I will be stopping back here very soon.

I roasted my first squash this fall and I have really missed it! Super simple, nothing special recipe. Roasted for 45 minutes at 400 degrees.

All I did was cut in half and put 1/2 TBSP in each half. Squash is done when it's soft and you can poke through it with a fork.

So good!!!!!!!!!!

I am ready to take this next step and move forward... I am really happy but a little anxious and worried that things won't go as planned, but I can't control it - it is out of my hands so I am just going to enjoy this time and NOT stress out about it.

See? This girl is not the least bit stressed!!! haha

Plus I have got my own Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Thanks to Mama Pea and her awesome recipe, Starbucks can eat their hearts out.

I am ready to take on the world :)

Maple Walnut Soft Serve & Sweetest Day

I had some inspiration when I visited a local custard joint called Cream City Custard. I picked up a couple pints of ice cream for my mom (birthday treat). One of their flavors was Maple Walnut and I thought it might be easy to recreate this as a soft serve version with my VitaMix.

Maple Walnut Soft Serve
3 bananas (frozen)
2 TBSP nut butter (I used 1 cashew and 1 crunchy PB)
1/2 cup almond milk
1 TBSP maple syrup
3-4 ice cubes
blend in high speed blender until smooth
add toppings of choice
Topped with walnuts
This was really great and it made 3 servings

Want to win some Artisana's nut butters? Go to Chocolate-covered Katie's blog and link back to her page!

Do you celebrate Sweetest Day or do you think it is just a Hallmark holiday? I personally think we should be romantic and appreciated all year round not just on Valentine's Day and Sweetest Day however we know that doesn't happen so it's nice to have a "special day" to say I love you and I appreciate you, right?

Flowers are always nice, wish I got them on a weekly basis :) Roses are definately my favorite flower and I love them in all colors. I got a fabulous bouqet a few years ago and it was 2 dozen roses of every color with glitter and a huge pink vase. I loved that!

Night Out on the Town

Last night I went out for sushi and some martinis with a friend of mine. Since I am moving further away we thought it would be a good time to get together and enjoy some girl time.
Here I am so excited to meet up my friend Kelly!
We tried variety of sushi since Kelly is very new to it, she enjoyed it all. She put her trust in me!
After the sushi we headed over to a piano bar called 88 Keys.
This place is really cute and have a lot of martinis that are very unique.

Looking towards the piano
Looking towards the bar
One really cool waterfall table.

Open piano for artists on Tuesdays. This guy was pretty good. He played a lot of classics.

Kelly by the waterfall table!

A few martini's ensued...

Charlie Brown Maritni with a peanut butter cup

Ebony & Ivory martini, Bazooka Joe Martini

James Bond Martini with a BMW for $16,000?

My girlfriend offered to buy the first round, I pointed out this one ;)

I had a great time out and about last night with a good friend. It was nice to catch up, have some good talks and really connect before I moved futher away! We definately enjoyed some delicious food, some plum wine, our fair share of martinis, and then some!

Needless to say I had a bit of a hangover this morning, nothing a cup of coffee, some water and an aspirin won't fix! HaHa.

Happy Hump Day!

Wellness Boosting

A few weeks ago I posted on being sick and some home remedies. I purchased some wellness booster from Outpost and was taking this along with my other remedies.

It is basically a natural herbal extract made by Outpost. The Wellness Booster supports the body's natural defenses by promoting a healty immune system, upper respiratory system and mucous membranes.

Sounds great when you are fighting a chest cold and lots of gross mucous! They seem to be working great.

I am interested to see how I do this winter in regards to getting sick and trying to stay healthy.

Have you ever tried any "wellness boosters" any herbs that do the trick for you when you are sick?

On another note let me show you some of the mess with the bath renovation with the upstairs of my duplex.

This antique claw foot tub was boxed in for who knows how long, but it has to come out because there was some leaking around the top and it just wasn't executed very well by whomever installed this. I put the tub on craigslist because I was told I could get some $$ for it however it has been a week & not one person emailed me. I don't have time to mess around anymore so we are just getting rid of it at this point.

I feel wasteful not being able to get it to someone that could restore it, however I think we can take it in the a re-store so they can at least recycle the material.

Next up is a new tub purchase, and the countdown is on for the big move. We are all excited over here.

We are going from this for a backyard..............

To this.............

Too much yard work, maybe?
